Legendary Mandolin Maestro U. Srinivas Passes Away

In a heartbreaking loss to the world of music, Mandolin U. Srinivas, the legendary Carnatic musician, passed away today at Apollo Hospital, Chennai. He was only 45 years old. Known as the “Mandolin Wizard,” Srinivas was widely celebrated for introducing the mandolin to Carnatic classical music and taking it to global stages.

Srinivas had been undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital for liver-related complications. Despite the best efforts of doctors, he breathed his last on Friday morning, leaving behind a void in the music fraternity that can never truly be filled.

Born in 1989 in Andhra Pradesh, U. Srinivas was hailed as a child prodigy who went on to achieve worldwide acclaim. Over the decades, he performed across continents, collaborated with international legends, and inspired countless musicians.
